There are loads of songs in Lord of the Rings.

I think they don't have enough songs in the movies, all they do in Middle Earth is fight stuff and then sing songs about the battles.

The greatest part is that they have this well known Finnish shamanist band(Värttinä)doing music for it. It was our #1 news few days ago. (Arent we pathetic)

another succesful infiltration, one step closer to culture victory by Finns

This past summer, my daughter (15 y.o.) and her friend wrote a musical parody of LOTR (titled "The Evil Ring -- An Evil Musical"). They recruited friends and filmed the first book. Amateurish, but pretty darned funny.

They have been aware of this production for awhile and feel their brilliance has been ripped off by those darned well-connected adults... (Yeah, they obsessed hard on the movies. It's an Orlando Bloom thing...)

They have a lengthy list of LOTR parody sites. Some are actually pretty amusing.

                  Moriaaaaa
I just crossed the mines of Moriaaaa
                  And suddenly that name
                  Will never be the same
                  To me
                  Moriaaaaa
Say it loud, and there's goblins braying
Say it soft, they won't hear us, I'm praying
                  Moriaaaa...

...okay, I don't even want to think along these lines anymore.

As MikeH has said (or maybe he didn't, I don't know), LoTR makes more sense as a musical then an action flick. I just hope the songs are better then the animated version of the hobbit

There was a actually an LP released some time ago, "Poems and Songs of Middle Earth" with Tolkien himself singing. Music by Donald Swan.

Yup, I actually posses a copy.

In the 70s there was an album called "Songs Inspired by Lord Of The Rings." The artist (European, I'm pretty sure) was named Bo Hanssen IIRC.

I have this album in the vinyl archives. Haven't heard it in decades, so I have no idea if it's any good. I seem to recall it as mostly instrumental but... like so many things, my "IIRC" has a wide variety of possible outcomes.
