  • What's there to see in New York City

    No seriously, what is there?

It seems weird that I haven't visited it. But I'm usually into more scenic destination than man made ones.

I may see the statue of liberty, maybe the WTC. I would like to go to the top of the World Trade Center.

What else am I missing? I'm not particularly interested in broadway. I would like to participate in a mob beating though. That would be interesting

When i still lived in NYC, or was home for the summer, whenever i had anyone in from out of town, I always took them to the WTC to get the birds eye view of the city, and cause it was such a cool place.

Hmm let's see there's lots of things to see if you have never been there. I liked Soho and China Town (but then again we don't have china towns, so it was new to me). Learn the subway, best way to move, but can be confusing at first when you're learning the map.

Empire State building is ok, but nothing spectacular. Great view though, took some nice pictures and the elevator is so fast it must be evil. BTW they don't confiscate if you're carrying booze bottles, they take it away but they give it back to you, the guards that is. Beware, they threatened to drink it, so make sure you check you're getting every bottle back!

What else.. lots and lots of things.. tough to say. Well check out manhattan obviously, and if you like hockey, there might be few seats left in Rangers game.. well at least we were able to score few tickets even with LATE notice, but then you need to be kind of creative.

Nightlife, depends what you're looking for. Centrofly was disappointment, but not horrible it was ok. But there are lots of places to go if that's not your cup of tea.

Be sure to check out who's in NY, I had the worse setback of my life there. I was watching television back at the hotel room after walking 49999 miles that day, just to see two playmates of the year were signing autographs in Virgin store, only few blocks from the hotel room I was in, and yes I was late, and NO there was no huge lines! DAAAAAAAAMN what a MISTAKE!

Lots of good places to eat, but I guess I don't know them, the locals might give you few hints but I guess you get good food from many places, they're everywhere.

The Statue of Liberty, ground zero, central park, the numerous museums, Harlem, the Manhatten skyline, and numerous other points of interest. Get a copy of the Let's Go travel guide and you'll get the inside scoupe.

Also the NY night life could possibly be the hottiest in the world.

Also if you're looking for company, the best place I guess for out of towner after hard day if you're too tired to go out is the hotels ice machines.. there all the tourist chicks come to get some ice to have hot lesbian sex with the ice cubes, so be ready to have smooth one liners ready. Expect hot sex with 10 German girls, or if you fail at that, tune into E! and hope for Ali Landris wild on some exotic place and hope to catch few boobies.

You could spend a month there and not possibly see everything good.

The Empire State Building. Beautiful old building.
Central Park and Central Park Zoo.
              Macy's.
              Metropolitan Museum of Art
              The Guggenheim.
              Museum of Natural History.
Some of Trump's buildings are kind of cool in their opulence.

The Whitney Museum of American Art.
                The Brooklyn Museum.

And while we're in Brooklyn, the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens. Coney Island. The Chassidic Jews of Borough Park and/or Williamsburgh.

                Leaving Brooklyn, the Bronx Zoo.

The Brooklyn Bridge. The Staten Island Ferry.

                  Chinatown.

Fraunces Tavern (where washington said farewell to his officers)

                  New York Stock Exchange.

South Street Seaport (way too commercialized, but still)

                  New York Public Library.

The United Nations. (if youre going to SOL, might as well see both WOW's )

Battery Park (where you have to go for the boat to the SOL anyway)

                  Greenwich Village

                  Rockefeller Center.

Store on 5th avenue, roughly from 49th St to the Park.

If you go to Ground Zero, you can buy a nifty t-shirt commemorating that solemn occasion.

Well if, like me, youre an ex-New Yorker, who spent lots of time at the WTC, its hard not to go there.

I also think lots of Americans want to go there to reflect on what happened. The way we go to the USS Arizona memorial, or to Gettysburg. The way some people go to Auschwitz.

                              alternatively go see

                              1. The Aircraft carrier Intrepid - still docked on the West side, I believe.

                              2. Brooklyn Navy Yard.

                              3. Prospect Park - part of the site of the battle of Long Island.

                              4. While you're in New York, take a side trip up to West Point.
