As others have said: low sugarlevel.

Since you haven't eaten for half a day (and possibly not a big lunch either as your last meal), I wouldn't worry about it, just eat more (often)

Do you drink lots (and/or) strong coffee in the morning? Lots of caffeine will get you worked up too .

Hunger is caused by not eating food.

Are you confusing that with starving? I get hungry all the time.

yeah like these people say it sounds like low bloody sugar. to me (as a diabetic) it doesn't sound like diabetes but it wouldn't hurt to ask your doctor for a test if you're worried.

I'd point out that it takes ~48 hours without food, (or ~24hrs with lots of physical activity*) before I start to notice this. Its not a common occurence, and I wasn't asking out of concern for my health. Just curiosity. I didn't have this feeling when I wrote the original post, but my rumbling stomach gave me inspiration for a topic.

        * I can only remember about a handful of instances when I've had this feeling, most of them after playing football or rugby for a couple of hours in the afternoon following days when I hadn't eaten since the previous lunchtime.

Thanks for reminding me, I need to get one of those, right now.

          Before I forget.......again.

I've never been hungry. As soon as my stomach gets empty I eat.

I have to disagree. You don't know what I grew up in. I grew up very poor.

Part of the reason I gained so much weight in m 20's. I ate to avoid hunger pain. I just hated hunger pains.

But I have learned that you can't remain thin without hunger pains. I just endure the pain now and am back to my normal weight- though I would like to lose 5 or 10 more pounds.

I totally disagree. It all depends on WHAT you eat, and your excercise habits.
I've lost about 15 pounds in the last 2 months just by paying attention to what i eat, and not eating unhealthy food all the time. i eat when i get hungry, i don't starve myself. and i exercise regularly.
