But there is no one ideology that is inherently hypocritical or populated entirely by hypocrites.

Coulter is a troll and attention whore. She must be upset that sales of "Treason" are falling off already - how else will she maintain her country club lifestyle unless she gets more PR?

Stefu, I had no idea what you were talking about when you mention Ann's golden monkey daemon. I did a little research, and now understand.

BTW, her a picture of Mrs. Coulter and her daemon.

Elijah, Ann's point is that liberals have no morals when they say that morality is relative. Somehow, liberals see no immorality in behavior conservatives would consider immoral. And yet, when a conservative is caught exhibiting behavior the liberal does not consider immoral, the liberal is quick to call the conservative a hypocrite.

Now, that is less offensive language, of course. But Ann makes the point much more sharply and clearly. I prefer her style.

If I tell you you are an evil person because you won't let your child read Dr. Suess, but then I don't let my child read Dr. Suess, I'm a hypocrite. If you call us evil for taking drugs, but you are secretly taknig drugs yourself, you're a hypocrite. What's so hard to understand.

And just because people don't shre your warped morals doesn't mean that they're immoral. It just means they have a life.

If someone claims that something is immoral and then is caught doing this act, then he's a hypocrite. If the people that find this person to be a hypocrite actually finds the act to be immoral or not is beside the point. That is, if this confused woman has a point at all.

Of cource, on apolyton, the word hypocrite got popular back in the days when conservative americans started calling all europeans for hypocrites, iirc. It has become an international pass-time, really.

"The reason any conservative's failing is always major news is that it allows liberals to engage in their very favorite taunt: Hypocrisy!
No Ann, it's news when a well-known pontificator of morality who condemns drug use and demands that drug users be sent up the river turns out to be a big time drug user. There are conservatives, albeit perhaps more libertarian, who don't condemn drug use and might even use drugs who would not be accused of hypocrisy for using drugs. The same thing happened when Jimmy Swaggart, after years of pontificating about, among other things, prostitution, got caught soliciting a prostitute. Perhaps Ann, you should have mentioned Jesse Jackson, he too is a well-known pontificator of morality who got caught cheating on his wife and we didn't see many liberals criticising him. Now, that wouldn't mean liberals are hypocrites as long as they condone or endorse adultery, but we don't see many liberals publicly taking that position... Btw Ann, you poked fun at Bill Clinton and Jesse Jackson after they got caught, so why the double standard? Oh yeah, because you're a hypocrite too...

Hypocrisy is the only sin that really inflames them.
Hmm...many liberals sure seem to have an extensive list of sins that inflames them, from "greed" to wars instigated by Republicans. But I'd ask Ann what sin Jesus condemned the most often... Answer? Hypocrisy. Is Jesus a liberal now?

Inasmuch as liberals have no morals, they can sit back and criticize other people for failing to meet the standards that liberals simply renounce. It's an intriguing strategy. By openly admitting to being philanderers, draft dodgers, liars, weasels and cowards, liberals avoid ever being hypocrites."
I notice drug addict doesn't appear on her list there. But Ann, once again you've missed the point, Limbaugh wasn't condemned for using illegal drugs, he's condemned for using illegal drugs while condemning others for drug use and being a vocal supporter of punishing people for using illegal drugs, hence the valid charge of hypocrisy. So Ann, why do you complain about liberal hypocrisy and ignore Limbaugh's hypocrisy? No need to answer...

Is this a profound insight? Or is there another reason why philadering, draft dodging, lying, weasingly, appeasing liberals are not hypocrites?
If liberals don't condemn these behaviors, they are by definition, not hypocrites. But that raises a set of different accusations regarding ther character...

There is a grain of truth in it. Witness the joy at seeing (some) flaw in Bill Bennet. Despite him not setting HIMSELF up as a model. But instead espousing a virtuous life itself.

Bennett doesn't just espouse living a virtuous life, he argues in favor of punishing people based not on what they've done, but based on what others do. For example, he wants prostitutes and their customers punished because some customers are married. He's opposed to medicinal marijuana because he thinks there will be more traffic accidents, i.e., sick people should be punished for using a medicine because someone else using that drug may cause an accident (notice just how selectively hypocritical that is?). He wants pornography banned because some consumers become addicted and hurt their relationships or rape women, i.e., the porn made them do it. He wants drug users and dealers punished because some of them hurt others. He even speculated on the Larry King Show that hanging dealers vigilante style was not a ridiculous proposition while he supports the legal dealing of alcohol, tobacco, and a multitude of others drugs...

So, if we apply that same standard to Bennett's gambling, he is guilty of a moral crime, not because his gambling hurt others, but because there are gamblers who waste away their family's money, etc. Bennett is a hypocrite, not for espousing a virtuous lifestyle, but for criticisng those who don't pursue that lifestyle and for using different standards for others and himself... But I'm really glad to hear that Bennett and Limbaugh are not role models...

                              Troll away...

Well there are lots of people who are anti-drug. It is the popular position. I don't think that is his defining thing. That is your hot button. His defining thing was The Book of Virtues.
