So GP's faithfull pup, Teddy Striker, runs up waging his tail.faithful to the bitter end towards his master, he aggressively, though rather unsuccesfuly, attempts to outwit the opponent. Sadly, the puppies general cluelessness hampers this greatly. He is left then to use simple 1st grade attacks, such as the "I know you are but what am I" attack..perhaps successful againt the general opponent of his own intellectual stature, generally rather weak against anyone past high school.

Teddy Striker thought can be easily sidetracked by throwing him a "britney snack".

Fine by me, but I do think that TCO's very first post in this thread was out of line, and no one repremanded him on it. I take responsibility for going after him, but still, his post was a very crude insult, and it was let go. If this forum will be known for strict enforcement of civility (which I have no problem with), that type of post should be dealt with the second it appears. It is spam of thw worst sort.

The last thing the administration can afford right now is even a hint that they mishandled anything regarding Sept. 11. First of all, they're already on the defensive about their few other "accomplishments," the tax cuts and Iraq in particular (they'd be on the defensive about Afghanistan, too, if the media didn't suffer from collective ADDS). Right now, Sept. 11 is the only trump left in their hand. On top of that, the GOP convention will take place next year in NYC, much later than usual so that it can be as close to the 9/11 anniversary as possible; prevailing wisdom is that Cheney won't seek a second term as veep, and there's serious of talk of Bush tapping Giuliani as a replacement.

In other words, the GOP is pinning their re-election hopes to a great extent on being able to co-opt 9/11 as a partisan symbol (something they've already been doing at fundraisers). They may not have anything to hide, but they can't afford even a whiff of scandal around it.
