  • It seems like the Cubs are so in love with their futility streak that they can't let go of it. Boston seems to suffer from the same disease, though they seem to prefer choking in the World Series. My condolences to Cubs fans, I know what it's like to cheer on teams that never quite make it to the championship (or the playoffs for that matter). Yes, I'm a Detroit fan.

      • I really feel sorry for those poor Cubbies fans. It was kind of tragic to read the posts here put up during that game when I already knew the final score.
        Maybe next year.

        Go Red Sox!!

        • ****ing Chicago Sun Times.

I can't believe the stunt they pulled to sell a few more papers. They published that poor guys name, address, phone number, email, place of work, and the team he is a little league coach of.

His life is now RUINED, Yes, the guy was a moron for trying to catch the ball, but still, the Sun Times is endangering this guys life by posting that information.

He was just another Cubs fan on Tuesday night, a 26-year-old guy attending Game 6 of the NL Championship Series to root for Chicago to put away the Florida Marlins and reach its first World Series in 58 years.

          • I totally agree. That is real scum journalism on their part, and would be shameful behaviour even for our no-morals gutter press over here.

            • If Cubs fans want to single out one person from that game who "cost them the pennant" then it should be Gonzalez, not some poor schmuck in the stands. The umps didin't even rule it 'fan interference' for christ's sake!

                • wait a minute... were you guys under the impression that the sun-times was anything other than a rag? seriously. after they lost royko, the only thing worth reading is their reviews.

as for the game... this tightness in my chest... it's not a heart attack, i'm too young for that and i haven't eaten nearly enough chicago dogs... must be...

                  • My condolences to all the Cubs fans. Though I have no idea what this game is all about, I realize that the Cubs, and Sox are two teams with a great history ( of not winning stuff), and a large following, so a match-up between them in the 'world' ( ) series would be cool.

                    • the game is a lot more complex than just hitting a thrown ball with a stick.

                            • But amazingly, Alou was more understanding of the basic instinct that causes people like this to reach for baseballs when there should be a voice in their heads telling them, "NOOOOOOO."

"They don't go to school," Alou said, "to be taught what balls not to touch."
                              Nope...especially if they're catholic

Its the same paper in which Robert Novak released the name of the CIA agent that's now causing a hubub in Washington.
