    heiroglyphs?

    neither korean or chinese have them.

    besides, koreans use an alphabet.

    now, if you're looking for chinese characters... which are also known as korean hanja and japanese kanji, then maybe i can help ya.

    but koreans use an alphabet -- hangul. the japanese use a syllabary -- *kana. neither are anyhing like what the chinese use, which is logographic writing.

        I could just type them in now.

        But since you want jpeg images, you need to wait for tomorrow.

                Do you want fortune as in "lucky" or as in "wealth?"

                    (sigh)

                    this is how koreans write "love" and "happiness".

                    it's an alphabet, not the characters the chinese speakers have used and shown above.

                    sa.rang == love
                    haeng.bok == happiness (usu. romantic)

                    graphically represented, each "character" is a syllable, broken up into constituent letters:

                    Code:
                    s  a      r  a
                                 ng

                    h  ae      b
                      ng        o
                                  k
                    it's badly written there, but i was writing it with a mouse.

                    if you really want to say it's applicable to korean, you can, but nobody really uses it anymore. you're more liable to see it in japanese as kanji than in korean as hanja.

                        Thanks for the explanation, Q^3. This is a very interesting system.

                        We should do a thread on the alphabetes of the world some day.
