  • Explain Datajack what's the big deal about processors

    Please. I need a computer and I don't understand the differences between AMD and Intel processors, what do they do, which one is better, which one makes popcorns with bee vomit and all that stuff. And explain your reasons of course.

    This thread already makes me feel mentally challenged so be nice like the happy stuffed animals you can see in all those nice taxidermist shops in England

    That's all! Nerds all over the world unite and help Datajack!

    I will never understand why some people on Apolyton find you so clever. You're predictable, mundane, and a google-whore and the most observant of us all know this. Your battles of "wits" rely on obscurity and whenever you fail to find something sufficiently obscure, like this, you just act like a 5 year old. Congratulations, molly.

    Intel = Coke
    AMD = Pepsi
    I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).

      Athlon is usually priced lower.

        Yep, that's a good sumation Skanky.

        If you want the original go for Intel.

        If you want a knock-off (and any extra baggage which might come with it), then save a few dollars and go with AMD.

        Of course, this advice is coming from a Coca-Cola drinker. Pepsi is just nasty (makes a lousy mixer)...but that's a different poll.

          Of course, both my computers are AMD. Best performance to cost ratio IMO. Still, Intel are nice, but not for poor uni students.

            pepsi sucks ass.

            But I won't say AMD sucks ass. They do pretty good performance wise. But I've heard Intel has some special features to improve speed. but if the programmers don't utilize these, then they really aren't gaining any speed.

            But I've had no problems with Intel, I have no reason to change.

                intels are better right now (they usually benchmark higher), but they do cost a lot more.

                if you're buying 1.5+ ghz, and doing standard stuff, you probably won't notice the difference in speed, so save yourself the money if you want to.

                  I think Pepsi has a much better, and smoother taste than Coke.

                    How about, say, an eight-way Alpha EV8?

                      Considering I actually own a Pentium 700 everything above 1000 is a big improvement

                          AMDs run hotter than Intels. too, unless AMD fixed this recently.

                              What? No. AMD chips don't use more power than Intel chips.
