Not when I was there. If you went to the up scale tourist places then the police kept the street walkers away but EVERY hotel worth it's salt seemed to have a "fish bowl" a private gentlemen's club where there was a big glass room with dozens of girls waiting in chairs and each girl had a number one her dress. I think the concerieges got a cut if you hired a girl or something because each of them where worse then pimps. You had to tell them a dozen times that no, your not gay but you still don't want to have sex with one of the hookers.

I was talking more about the child prostitutes and the rest of the really bad stuff. Of course Thailand is still full of prostitutes; they're just a little older these days.

Child prostitution is still a problem in Thailand. German and American "tourists" are apparently the most common buyers.

The thing that gets me is that it is widely known that AIDS is widespread among prostitutes in Thailand and Cambodia. Anyone who goes on a sex tour to these places are total losers, and soon-to-be dead ones.

          not soon enough

Death can result in anywhere from 2 years to 10+ years later. Plenty of time to go home and infect others.

Which doesn't really bother me, when you think about the fact that Westernes have access to medication that effectively makes AIDS a no-killer. And even a disease that you can live a fairly normal life with.

What bothers me is the fact that these sex tourists will spread the disease among the Thai population while there, contributing to stats that are among the worst for AIDS in the world. And this in a relatively poor country that simply can not afford treating it's citizens.

What are the odds China tries to repay Japan for World War II by conquering them someday?

Depends on how dedicated the US is to defending Japan.

the answer to that is, very dedicated.

so the other answer is, no, china has no hope of conquering Japan. They tried it once, and the divine winds were against them.
