First off, I am disgusted with politics in America. So many Americans don't vote, and the ones that do don't spend any time thinking about who they'll vote for. They just listen to what sounds kind of good, go along with it, and then vote in a crappy leader. Will there be a way to increase participation?
And the worse part is that Americans just don't question anything. It has gotten so bad that whoever actually thinks about what we are doing as a country gets ostracized for being a 'Saddam lover.' Americans just have stopped looking into things and believe whatever they see on TV. They show a couple of clips of Iraqi soldiers doing something bad, and then they see a movie based on a Tom Clancy book and they are for the War in Iraq. The American public gets absolutely no exposure to different types of thinking and different perspectives. This is the worst part. The American people hear only what the politicians tell them. They hear nothing of the rest of the world thinks. So we make awful decisions without even thinking about it and we don't question it. In fact, when I first came to Apolyton it changed my life (not to sound corny or anything). I was shocked at the leftist opinions. I had never heard anything like it. The thought that Bush was bad seemed absurd. But it made me question things and look into issues more and from different angles. It has helped me see the truth.
So how do we solve the problem? I don't think there is a clear solution. The only thing I can think of is to start with education. Get teachers to make their students think and question things. And to keep an open mind and view things from different perspectives. Americans don't do any of these things, and it is causing or country to go down the drain. Or just for people to speak to other people about this and try to move them to think.
