I still think of that one as "Aryan Asylum" - blond Batman, blonde Robin, blonde Batgirl, blonde Poison Ivy, blonde Mr. Freeze.
Wrong one, Batman forever has Two Face, Riddler, Robin, and Nicole kidman. Lots of red hair.

That must be why a Brit wrote the comic.

As DinoDoc said, he is a Brit
But you missed the whole point which is not creating just another superhero comic.
The comic 'belongs' to the Steampunk subgenre and as such it obeys its rules at least as much if not more than those of the superhero genre.
The big attraction to me is the world itself, the steamboats, huge coal-powered (and correspondingly polluted) megalopolises, and the spirit of victorian times, which is one of progress. It is after all the time of industrial revolution and there is no limit to what can be done with steam and a bit of imagination (tanks, moles, flying ships... computers, transatlantic tunnels, you name it..)
Ofcourse, there is the desperation of the working classes, on the brink of exploding into a revolution ...
Well, not all of that is in the comic, but that is what I looked for.
What was a bad side to the comic, to me, are all the references to other works. There are virtually hundreds of them, little clues scattered around. There are sites out there documenting them. It struck me as both elitist and pointless to do that.

But to me, those references aren't integral- they're icing or cherries on the cake. You don't need to know them all to enjoy the story, and you won't miss out on plot points if you don't get them.
Besides which, you can always go to the www.wildstorn.com website and go to the LOEG forum, and see what the argus eyed fans have found.

Yeah, I know...presumably beacuse of the bod, and the money making films he'd been in before turkey rolls like 'End of My Arse' or 'Exorcist Days' or 'Omen in the Gloaming' or whatever that poop was called.
I still think a 'Watchmen' film would be an interesting idea, but after 'LOEG' tanking, and the less than spectacular 'Daredevil'... would the relative success of Hulk make the difference?
It would be good to have a film that reflected the depth
and breadth of Alan Moore's research and writing in visual invention, characterization and detail. But blue moons are rare. alas...

Watchmen is an awesome graphic novel. It's not easy to make it into a good script.
