  • I think Adbusters is running out of ideas

Adbusters usually has great rather professional-looking fake ads and slick (though rather smarmy) anti-commercialism campaigns, but I really don't think their newest one is up the snuff:

So their new campaign is to subversively... put big black spots everywhere. Whoa. That'll teach the Man. Everybody will certainly understand that this is a powerful symbol against the struggle of corporatization instead of just an inane graffiti.
"Spirit merges with matter to sanctify the universe. Matter transcends to return to spirit. The interchangeability of matter and spirit means the starlit magic of the outermost life of our universe becomes the soul-light magic of the innermost life of our self." - Dennis Kucinich, candidate for the U. S. presidency
"That’s the future of the Democratic Party: providing Republicans with a number of cute (but not that bright) comfort women." - Adam Yoshida, Canada's gift to the world

I knew about this campaign months ago from some magazines my brother has. I happen to agree with it, I would much rather see a large black spot than an ad. Besides, some of the small black spots slightly resemble bullet holes, makes me feel much better.

Adbusters is a bit hopeless. I bought Lasn's book to see what he was on about. It seems to me to be a confusing farrago of ideas.

i heard about this a while back too.

the problem is, a big black dot? it's branding, too--it's a logo.
