    Yeah - that's classic infringement. Making accessories and fashions for them has been around since the beginning - pattern books and all. Pretty soon, I'll just have to hide out in the garage, as the rest of the house gets filled with Barbie stuff.

    A friend of ours in Chi-town had life size Ken and Barbies. And yes, he is the queeniest person I've ever met.

        Yeah, that would get their attention, I'm sure. Probably marketing anything as Barbie the whatever would cross the line, but if you do the semantic dodge of marketing "fashions for BarbieTM" thing, they wouldn't get on it unless it was really negative. Although LTEC! did find those Jabba the Hutt slave girl Barbies (IIRC it was a Barbie)

        Otoh, taking someone to court over it only gives free publicity to a niche cottage industry which is no real threat to them so maybe they are smarter than some other corporates as you say.
        Actually, there's a lot of fanatic collectors (as I'm finding out ) and they make special purpose dolls just to go for that market, so it could cost them a lot of good will (i.e. $$$) if they were heavy handed with someone who made stuff that fit the image, and didn't misrepresent it. Interesting hobby/business though. Besides, it gives me an excuse to dig out my airbrush stuff and my 1/35 Panzer kits.
