Seeing as how well Ireland is doing these days, would they even want the troublesome province back?

Why don't you give independence to N Ireland, so that they massacre each other, and whomever wins joins the nation of its choice ?"I have been reading up on the universe and have come to the conclusion that the universe is a good thing." -- Dissident

Isn't the conflict though beyond "religion" terms?
N. Irish (protestants) are more "progressive" than Irish (catholics) -take abortion for a very underlining example - so the two societies have serious differances that just reflect on each ones religion.
Hmrph I don't know who to like more. On one hand you have England with Marks& Spencer, Body Shop, the hats and ombrellas, the metropolitan London and all those great rock bands and on the other hand you have those jolly happy stubborn not giving up Irish. It's a tough call. Ireland's conservatism pins me a bit on England's side but I had a nice time with an Irish girl so this almost balances it out, almost.
In any case here's a small cartoon that maybe the Irish would like. It has nothing to do with them per se it's from our own anti-king camp (for constantine)
