It's worth a shot, I think... but if they think they can recreate the same magic that show had without him, they're nuts.

They could figure a way to write his death into the script… kinda kills the comedy part unless they are really clever.

        See? The dead has risen.
Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.

They are writing his character's death into the show. No word yet on precisely how his character will die, but the season will start with the last of thr Ritter episodes, then have some sort of tribute, and then continue with the episode just following his death.

It could be funny, if done right. The News Radio in which Phil Hartmann's character died was pretty funny.

Hopefully they just do the 'death' of the character thing to continue the show until the end of the season and then kill it. Newsradio with Jon Lovitz wasn't nearly as good.

You're approaching British levels of understatement with that one, Imran.

                you could say that

It's obvious the loss of Hartmann changed the writing as well as the on-screen chemistry. Lovitz' type of humor overlapped too much with Andy Dïck, and possibly some other choice might have worked much better.

Still, Hartmann was not the central character on News Radio. With Ritter being the central character I just don't see 8 Simple Rules surviving.
