    A Moment of Silence for Chile, Please (9/11/1973)

    On September 11, 1973 the democratically elected president of Chile, Salvador Allende, was toppled by a CIA backed coup led by Augusto Pinochet.

    In the dictatorship that ensued for the next 16 years tens of thousands of people were murdered or disappeared.

    This year marks the 30th anniversary of one of the most terrible dates in latin american history which millions of people never forget and with all due respect, also deserves remembrance.
