  • Doing what he does best, Gray Davis blames Bush for his problems

Well I thought Davis was doing a halfway decent job of making a run to save his job. But I guess he couldn't sit too long before pointing the finger.

Has this man ever taken responsibility for ANYTHING? What a loser.

Yeah, I got a laugh out of that - plus Dean campaigning for him on the "vast right wing conspiracy" theme.

What whiners. The amazing thing is that these guys somehow think this is the sort of bull**** that will sell the Democratic party as a preferable option?

I don't see anywhere where Davis said that Bush was to blame for California's woes. He stated his belief that Bush's policies were bad for the economy--but what Democrat isn't going to say that, especially in a radio address rebuttal to the President's address which is specifically trying to take credit for a (so-far unspectacular) economic recovery?

Oh come this is a no brainer.

No offense, but you don't live here, so haven't seen this history -- every time a crisis happens, Davis ALWAYS points the finger at someone.

I'm not sure that I understand the undermining democracy charge leveled by Dean. Are Republicans somehow to blame for the Progressive era reforms in California in the early 20th Century?

Hasn't Davis been thrown overboard by the Dems yet?

I wonder what they gain by having the party so visibly associated with him, especially nowadays. Giving him the rebuttal spot doesn't seem to make much sense.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

                      I agree.

                      It seems odd.

No, but his career path is perfectly aligned for him to be the "I have no more elections to lose" attack dog this year.

you have to admit. Bush did nothing to help California during their power crisis.

And you also have to admit that while Bush didn't cause the recession and job losses, he did nothing to fix the problem.

                              He's a terrible president.
