        Why would you build underground? It is more difficult, becuase you have to move an immense amount of dirt (even more difficult to do this in a dense city), and no more payoff than building higher.

        However, a Coruscant-like thing, with a lot of towers connected so much they are practically the same thing, is certainly possible. It would add support.

                          For pictures of a real city, look up Brasilia, capital of Brasil. It has a very futuristic look to it.
