I've seen it as a kid many times, and now I just got it to myself again and I like this. Music is very good, it's a classic. Why don't they make movies like this anymore?
This has a great atmosphere, they just don't get that kind of feeling to the movies anymore.. kind of dark, exciting...

You know what brings the dark atmosphere to the movie? It's the snow.. when it's dark, the snow can be little intimidating.. it's the white death .

A Finn that's intimidated by snow? Well, now I've seen everything...

Sure it's intimadting. I love it, but it's dangerous. It's like sea. It's beautiful, but you have to respect it because you can't fight it and it has buried many men alive. You just have to learn to deal with it. For example, if you have to escape by foot from the castle they infiltrated, you are going to be dead in the next 60 hours if you know survival but not how to deal with it. If no survival skills, then you die in 24 hours, looking what the conditions were like. So absolutely it's intimidating.
Also, how do you plan to eat from the nature, everything is covered by snow and ice? . It's not very simple. It's hard to walk and takes your energy, if you sweat, you'll freeze later, if you stay put, you'll freeze right there, your brains won't function normally, because it's freezing you need to know what you're doing. And even then it's very possible you'll end up dead like a stick. It's like sea. If you know what you 're doing, you have chances, but no guarantees. That's why you have to respect it, and love it.

Also even if you have the theory but no experience.. it's difficult. It's hard for you to adapt to the freezing condition and your body wants to quit and drop there and start sleeping. It hurts everywhere, it stings your head, but if you know it already what it's like, you can adapt to it and keep on going. Like the sea. If you knwo how to swim and you'll drop over the board, you can try to do something and stay alive a little while but you'll drown sooner than later. If you're experienced swimmer, you have better chances. You can hang on. You know your limits, you know when it gets serious. Also if you're experienced, you'll be able to push the feeling away and deal with it. It's the same everytime winter comes. When it's first freezing, like let's say -20C which is not very high but it's very cold still, you'll be begging for getting inside because it hurts. But after a week or so.. no problem.

It's a whole different scenario when you're in the woods and nothing near, than in city when it's cold. You can't even compare it. Like swimming in a pool and swimming in the middle of the ocean. You need to monitor yourself and know what your body is telling you, what kind of pain is normal, and when it goes to dangerous. It's like this: you can read that it's important to stay clean, for example if you sweat, you need to have clean clothes under. Easy, right? What if you don't have anything to change? Then it gets trickier. What if you have to stop to rest and cool down, spend the night when it's matter of death and life? You know you have to dig a whole and make a fire inside maybe as a one option, but can you do it correctly that it's safe and actually working? Things like these.. sounds easy, but is not easy.

You know it unconscioussnesly, so it makes the movie intimidating for you, because there's snow!

sauna is not dangerous.... it won't kill you, except maybe if you have a weak heart or drink too much and pass out there.. free mummyfication right there!

Both situations are more likely than having to escape on foot after infiltrating a Nazi castle.

Yeah, but then again if you'd have to watch a movie about saunabathing.. it wouldn't be very exciting?

It's better to be prepared for anything anyway, you never know what you have to do!

That castle is beautiful btw..

Depends who's doing the saunabathing. I think a sauna film starring Rachel Weisz would most likely be the greatest film ever made.

Maybe.. but it wouldn't even stand next to Where Eagles Dare..

I love Where Eagles Dare, I really do, but even it wouldn't be able to compete with 90-odd minutes of Rachel Weisz's nubile body building up a gleaming sheen of sweat as she relaxes stark-naked in a sauna.

Well, off to the bathroom for me...

I rather watch Where Eagles Dare than any other sex movie or erotic film.
