Throwing money into a bottomless pit is not the way to fix education. Birmingham spends just as much per student as the 'white flight' suburbs but the schools are a disaster of mismanagement and outright criminal behaviour. My property, income, and sales taxes (and those of my neighbors) are already as high as most places in the USA. The tax plan in Alabama actually seems pretty intelligent.
