You can tell from what he says that he's never used a mac or at least not enough to know what he's talking about. You can't do that to essential system files without enabling root access (which you only do if you want to **** about with ****). And most of the other stuff is BS too (like the shortcuts thing).

And as for the trash. Well if you trash files you need, you shouldn't be using a computer at all, let alone a mac. And Windows is worse. I've heard of heaps of people using the recycle bin to store stuff since they are going to use it again ("recycle" geddit?).

There's plenty to make fun of without having to invent things.

No. Hunt around. There was a good one with Will Ferrell as Santa Claus (but I think Apple paid for that one as a joke).

This guy is a bit useless. I can think of funnier things to pick on like "Flower Power" and "Blue Dalmatian". Whoever thought of that sure was a moron.

That's playing with fire. I almost never use root.

Indeed, it was. It all came about cause I decided to upgrade to Jaguar using my roomate's upgrade disc. Well, before I knew it, my old log in didn't work! hmmmm. So I logged in using root, and never looked back... Until I looked back. Yeah, I'm long past those times now. But it was fun while it lasted.

I've seen many XP Home users using a User identity rather the Root one. Definitely more than 1%

However, Asher's right. How come it is that dangerous to be a root user on Mac ? Aren't you warned when you're gonna delete a system file ? Does the system rename / delete system files without you noticing ?

Macs are for "creative" people, i.e. not necesaryily bright or smart or even creative, but weird or I wanna be different. People that buy Macs are the same people that buy VW Bugs or are vegans.

Doesn't matter if they're not a limited account. And I very rarely see limited accounts on home user computers.

I'd wager the percentage of people using "root" access is higher than 99% on Windows home machines.

I've used a root login ever since the beta of OS X. No problems here.

Well, there's logins that give you full control of the whole computer, and then there's THE ROOT log-in which is rather special. I think there's been a misunderstanding. Log-ins don't work on macs quite like they do on PCs.

When my Dell arrived with XP home, I had a limited account. I couldn't get rid of some files or even install quite a few things.
Needless to say this XP home went to the trash very quickly. It is my policy to reformat any new computer right away anyways.
