The whole "Iraq got their WMD from the US" has become an article of faith for the far left. Facts (more correctly the lack of them) no longer matter to these people. You can try to show them the truth but it is up to them to accept it.
You have to remember that people from the Eastern block kinda sorta hate Russia and tend not to be real objective about it.

First you are seriously over exagguarting the rivalry and vandetta between Iran and Iraq, or arab countries in general. The fact that Arafat tried to organize a coup and assassinate the king of Jordan in 1970, didn't stop the Jordanian King from meeting and kissing with him in 1995.
Furthermore their only concrete goal is the evil USA. Iran is just as conserned about the USA being successfull in it's hunt for WMD's and wishes to do what it can to destabilize the situation, even at the price of (oh no!) laying their hands on former Iraqi weapons.
Furthermore - let's not forget the country to which the Russians escaped, and which the US and UK blamed of hosting Iraqi diplomats - Syria.
Yes, did you know that Iraq and Syria had developed rather close ties since 1991? Syria was a channel for circumventing trade barriers. Syria bought stuff, and sold it to Iraq.
And as for the Russians being such close friends with Iraq - do you remember the statue of Saddam that the US Army pulled down? Guess who built it? The Russians, for Saddam's birthday in 1998 iirc.

Second, what do you want me to say? Russia is and was a foreign relations biach. nothing compares to the number of agents it converted in the foreign media and politics. Nothing compares to it's huge endeavor in universities world wide in communist lobbies.
Hell, I wish Israel was half as good at making these crazy ploys as you guys are.
