How come there is no interest in the space program? Mars?


It seems like no one is interested in the space program anymore-has its “novelty” warn off among other events in resent times?

Some people say the current world events are more important.......... does fighting a war in Iraq and Afghanistan have any more or less relevance to your life, YOU PERSONALLY then the space program? Except that the space program is responsible for alot of modern innovations you use lol.

What about the big dream to go to mars? It seems to have dissapeared!

Would you pay 1% more in taxes per year if it guaranteed an American (international space efforts just don’t work lol-you brits, canadians and ausies and Israeli's can come along if you want ) colony on the moon in 5 years, a man on mars in 10, and a colony on mars in 15?

I think there is great interest at least among Scientists.

But there is no money available. If NASA would get a litle more funding thins would look diferent I think.
Maybe the US-Military should just get some Bilions less funding (especially the Branch which developes new TacNukes), which will then be spent for the NASA

But isn´t there still th Mars-Program which should start in 2016?
Or was ist already canceled?

As for the General Public I think it is just poor PR.
And of course the Fact that it will be still years from now on till it will be possible for the first Mars Mission to start.
I think if the Mars Mission is running, and Man sets its first Foot on martian soil, people will sit fascinated at their TV-Sets as they had done it when Eagle landed

because there is no purpose to a space program. we have to spend our resources carefully. this at least as far as space travel beyond any earth orbit is concerned. moon and mars missions are truly a waste of resources.
