Considering the voter fraud in Florida, I'm not surprised the ACLU decided to get involved. With 135 or so candidates and using punch cards, don't you think there's a large margin of error? But I guess bashing the ACLU is the "in thing" for dumbasses.

Imagine the uproar if Davis stays in power because of problems with the voting system... but then again, hypocrisy is so common with you guys, isn't it?
To us, it is the BEAST.

bla, bla, bla Sava if ppl are so stupid that they can't even puch their card right then what do suppose we do, it isn't like this is confined to just one election... Voter error is just another way stupid ppl are reflected in elections...

Bashing the ACLU is not the "in thing", in fact it is an old past time of mine...

I more or less second that entirely.

Davis is just pulling in his cards. Delaying the election until March gives him time, and makes sure the Dem vote got out.

Since California has used the punch card ballots in the past, and the ACLU didn't blink (notably in the 2002 elections), why is the ACLU suddenly interested in this election before it even occurs?

It will get shot down just like the previous five or so motions. The recall is going through and I can't say Davis doesn't deserve it. Arny actually looks like a pretty centrist candidate so I can't even complain about that either.

The ACLU is one of the most politically driven organizations on the plant. They are run by a pack of raving neo-socialists who just despise the Republicans.

What fraud? I thought the big problem in Florida was voter confusion with ballots. What voter fraud was there in California?

With 135 or so candidates and using punch cards, don't you think there's a large margin of error?
Why? A list of candidates is a list of candidates. Just how hard is it to read down a list and punch a hole by the name of your candidate?

But I guess bashing the ACLU is the "in thing" for dumbasses.
This smacks of political partisanship, as we asked before, where was the ACLU in the last election?

Imagine the uproar if Davis stays in power because of problems with the voting system... but then again, hypocrisy is so common with you guys, isn't it?
Was there an uproar a year ago when he got elected? Who "uproared" over Florida? Oh yeah, the Democrats... It takes a bit of logic to support accusations of hypocrisy, Sava, and that's obviously a weak point for you.

This recall is just a republican circus and an attempt to steal California from the dems. Besides, you guys reelected Davis in 2002, so don't wine.

Blah blah blah more bile against the ACLU. Can anyone produce a documented instance of them acting to "taking away" people's freedoms? Nonsense.

Oh, and in the 2002 election, the ACLU was trying to make sure voting was fair. But when it's all 50 states voting nationwide instead of the circus we have in California now, things don't get as noticed.

I thank the ACLU, as they have been an invaluable force for preserving civil liberties everyone here seems to take for granted.

The ACLU sued California in 2001 over the continued use of these machines. The State of California settled with the ACLU and agreed to replace these machines by March 1st, 2004. Since the election falls so close to the replacement date, their position is that it's not an imposition on the state to wait so that all of California's voters have the same rights to vote.
