  • Football - The kind with round balls

We want a place to discuss football! Over in NZ we don't get that many games (around 5 Premiership games per weekend). I did manage to catch Arsenal vs. Everton. Quite a good game actually.

What Arsenal, IMO, lack is consistency. Looking at last season in particular, you couldn't have blamed many bookies for calling off bets for them winning the crown. Alas, they turn to cake.

Reminds me of the 96-97 season (IIRC). Liverpool were at very short odds to win the thing. All of a sudden, David James is kidnapped by vampires and develops a fear of crosses.

Manchester United have done it too, throwing away the title to Blackburn in the 94-95 season.

    Strange, no?

In other news... keeping up with my beloved Reading has become somewhat of a Sunday regularity now. After last weeks shocking draw to Ipswich at the Road, I was ecstatic that they continued last seasons form by thumping Forest three zip at the Mad Stad.

I think ITV still has a monopoly on Premiership highlights. Though there was some talk of MotD making a comeback...

I tell you what, it's bloody cracking that the football season is back!
Went to the Millers-Cardiff game last satdy, and saw snippets of the Pompey-Villa game on the box.

March-May time is the best though, You can guarantee a local pub has a Match on virtually every day.

Anyway, will you get the Chance to see the BIG Match next Monday over there Frozzy??
Reading vs Rotherham is televised over here

fozzy, in all fairness we played well yesterday, we had 10 men for most of the game and everton seem to have turned quality lately (/waits for red4ever ), not our best performance ever maybe, but we did what we needed to do and got 3 points.

i was looking at division 3 as well and i noticed something, first and second are yeovil and doncaster, who got promoted last season. come on town!

No disagreement here Moyes has done a good job at Everton on a shoestring, of course palming of that cheating git Jeffers to you lot didn't hurt!

BTW this thread should just be titled 'Football' or at the very most 'Real Football', let the yanks qualify which 'football' they mean!

Our game is older than their country!

I agree, the yanks can **** off if they think that WE should be the one's Changing the name (or adding notations) to the name of our beautiful game.

I will agree that Everton have turned things around in the past two years, which is great considering the lack of star players they have in their squad. But I still stand by my point that Arsenal lack consistency, and to win the title this year, they will have to keep up the pace at the top of the table.

Division 3 football is highly amusing to watch. It's more like mud wrestling than football.

Match of the Day returns for next season, ITV have one last season to annoy us with their crap coverage & pitiful analysis.

Big game is today. Come on Liverpool!
