  • Need help with video problem

I just formatted my HD, reinstalled WinXP yesterday. I have only installed SimCity 4, DivX, Tv-Tool 5.5 and Winamp

    The problem is:

Whenever I watch movies on the computer, it lags. There's no problems with the sound, but it has a low framerate...

    I've got a:

    P4 2.4 GHz
    1 gb DDR PC2700 ram
lots of HD space... and fast HDs

The problem is also when viewing movie-files from cd, and my cd-drives are fast also...

Does anyone have any clue what's wrong here? It's really annoying

          What 'viewer' are you using?

Try BS it's a pretty good one, at least I like it

The best free media player in the world. BS.Player™ is used by more than 70 million computer users throughout the world and it has been translated into more than 90 languages. It can download and playback any YouTube video and automatically download subtitles.

              I have tried:

              BS-viewer
Windows Media Player (8 and 9)
              Power DVD 4
              DivX player (2.0 and 2.1)

This problem was the reason why I reinstalled Windows... I don't have all those players installed now though...

I just did a little test:

Having WinAmp open and a movie open, I still have about 800 mb ram free...

You have patched XP, right? msblaster slowed everything down for me.

I haven't patched anything... it can't be msblaster, since I haven't downloaded anything new since the worm got out, and I haven't been to any new places... and I have had the same problem even before the worm got out...

For DVDs I usually use PowerDVD, but it's not only DVD's... it's all movies...
