Do any of you guys know if this quote is real?

    In 1555, Nostradamus wrote:

    "Come the millennium, month twelve,
In the home of greatest power,
The village idiot will come forth
    To be acclaimed the leader."

If I do a search I find it on a lot of sites, but that does not mean very much...

I've seen it in the new's paper but I don't know if it's real (most reporters screw everything up). I do know that old Nostradamus made tens of thousands of predictions so it is likely that a handful of them will come true. Throw enough **** against the wall and some of it will stick.

Rumor: Nostradamus predicted the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center.

Obviously Nostradamus knew that in every country the ruling party eventually puts the village idiot in power, just to see if people will listen to him.

            False, most likely.

And, yes, Oerdin is right--if I wrote several thousand predictions, then I'd be some kind of a future-seer as well.

In addition to the fact that lots of Nostradamus quatrains have been horribly butchered in translation.

Do you have a quatrain number? I could look it up for you if you do. I'd bet it's a garbled translation, like the 9/11 quatrain.

                    It doesn't read like Nostradamus.

Actually, if there was such a quatrain, wouldn't it's precise date make it very easy to interpret, and thus fairly easy to find in respectable sources, like books on him. The difficulty you are having in sourcing it suggests that it is a fake.
