Yes, this is a thread about the classic computer of ages, before we had all these fancy "PCs" and what have you. Of course, to my generation it's a source of hazily-remembered nostalgia, considering that it was already on it's way out when we started coming of age, but I had a Commodore 64 for some time of my childhood. I remember playing Rick Dangerous with it, and even trying to program a little gamelette of my own. (A Space Invaders variant, basically. The programming effort proceeded remarkably well considering I was 10 years old or so, but in the end it didn't work and I didn't know why.)
But anyway, one thing I remember is that many people had a habit of calling it "Commandore 64". Goddammit, it's not a Commandore - it's a Commodore! I realize this is not one of the most burning subjects, but I bet some people still remember their "Commandore".
WTF caused the particular "Commandore" word twisting, anyway? Was "Commando" that popular a game with C64? Also, did people say "Commandore" outside Finland?
