We were drinking beer in babylon. Beer without hop, yikes.
“Now we declare… that the law-making power or the first and real effective source of law is the people or the body of citizens or the prevailing part of the people according to its election or its will expressed in general convention by vote, commanding or deciding that something be done or omitted in regard to human civil acts under penalty or temporal punishment….” (Marsilius of Padua, „Defensor Pacis“, AD 1324)

A quick google search showed a possible link to some "Sandman" comic.

            Revelation:

14:6 And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,

14:7 Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.

14:8 And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.

14:9 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive [his] mark in his forehead, or in his hand,

14:10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:

14:11 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.

quoting from book of revelation is odd - geez, in the middle ages it was like THE thing to do, no? And in some circles its still quite fashionable. Not something I do very often, being Jewish and all that, but its a deep part of christian civilization, I'm afraid.

                        a) Is she Christian?

                        b) This isn't just a quote from Revelations. It's a particularly odd paraphrase of a tiny section of the downfall of Babylon (IIRC), put into question form.

                        Very bizarre.

                          ok a different answer

"we" is Paul Bremer, Ahmed Chalabi, and kurdish leaders Talabani and Barzani. we drank wine together to celebrate the formation of the Iraqi governing council, and the onward march of the Wolfowitz plan to build a new middle east.

This thread has now been officialy threadjacked to middle eastern and international politics.

In that case I'd say we return to:

"And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication."
