It's good to do these things to make things. It helps keep retention up and maintain an all volunteer force.

In the coming years the military will struggle to maintain volunteer numbers. The U.S. has moved away from a military culture (except for G.W. ). Most kids now days are too fat for the military anyways. And the others are lazy and umotivated and/or have no discipline. In 10 years I predict the U.S. will have a very tough time maintaing the numbers we have now. But with any luck we won't need such a large military

Whats the issue here? A mere $200,000 spent on entertaining and maintaining morale ?? Given the expense of equipment and munitions runs into the millions and billions, this seems like a paltry sum to help maintain the military's biggest asset

I'm appalled at how much cruise missiles cost. That initial attack that was supposed to kill Saddam Hussein costed like $30 million dollars! And it didn't even kill anyone important!

Of course I didn't mention, that trainers had their own mess hall, and once I gain the privilidges to use it, we had playstation, lots of games, tv that had the channels working (in the same building, funny), VCR that didn't eat tapes and LOTS of videos, the shortest route to go for the smoking area, comfortable chairs and sofa, coffee machine and fridge too, microwave and toaster. Naturally privates also cleaned and mopped that place too. Ahh, good times... *tear*

Oh I almost forgot, coke machine (you know where you put money, push button and get coke can) right next to us, DOOR you couldn't open before knocking and couldn't bring any small problems because we were taking a break so you piss us, it's running time. That place was supposed to be our working area, to prepare coming lectures and classes plus plan coming combat training etc.. but it as a good place to hang out too. Good times... *tear* I LOVE MESS HALLS!
