Oh God, I have to ask, what does Ted Turner have to do with bison, cinch? Is he a big bison rancher or were you trying to draw my attention to a perceived similarity between Ted and our lovable buffalo?

Turner's just a huge bison-advocate. He's come up to Edmonton (and, I believe, Elk Island National Park) to speak on the necessity for bison preservation (and the ever-usefulness of their meat and hides) a few times now. I don't know if he actually raises bison himself, but he is indeed a fan of their delicious innards, and he hopes to see them live on so that future generations may do the same.

      God Save Ted Turner!

Note: After a quick google search, I have come to realize that Mr. Turner has some noteworthy financial holdings in the bison sector. Most notably, bison is the featured dish at his "Ted's Montana Grill" restaurants.

I never had the opportunity to eat meat from a wild bovine, but I sometimes ate boar meat. I strongly suggest for you to try. It sure tastes gamey, but it makes a worthy discover for those tired of everyday pork

            Dude,

            This **** is expensive.

But I am going to try it out. I bet it tastes alot better than ground beef.

            Bison are beautiful animals.

We get at local stores and there are bison ranches in the area, and I'm sure you can get it mail order. If you can't find something on google I can probably find out a mailing address to a local supplier, but I'd be a bit hesitant buying it thru the mail.

Btw Ted, your PM box is full.

We tried a bison roast and was very disappointed, but the ground bison was fine. It's not so much the taste although I find it as good if not better than ground beef, it's the health factor. And I think the bison is more tender, which is ironic because the roast was like leather. Maybe we just got a really cheap piece of meat of screwed up cooking it.

The arrowhead site lists 4 lbs of ground bison for $30, that is expensive. I think we pay about $3.50-4 a lb at local stores.

                  $4 a pound is affordable

Maybe I can find a local retailer...

                    You tried it?

I am going to try it too...

Nah, it's illegal to hunt in zoos. I didn't even know it was sold in the USA.

But I'll bet it's even more healthful than other fowl since they have to spend so much time running around.

I, too, wholeheartedly recommend bison meat. I eat roughly one-half pound to three-quarters pound weekly — a quarter-pounder contains 2.25 grams of fat, 125 calories and low cholesterol. Other than for leaving your wallet a bit lighter than if you had bought regular hamburgers, what's to lose?

Can you believe a number of our ancestors damn near wiped out the bison herds? Good grief. If they had known then what we know now, bison ranches might be the norm, not cattle ranches. Well, at least we caught ourselves before it was too late.

Here's a toast to rebounding bison populations and, of course, their delicious, healthy meat!

Okay, I got some buffalo burgers the other day and have to say very impressive.

They tasted just like regular hamburgers except more flavorful. These are MUCH nicer to cook on the grill because like Berzerker mentioned they don't leave all that damn grease (which makes it way easier to clean up).

I was a dumbass and ordered the Arrowhead stuff but next time I found some cheaper vendors.

Also going to try the Ostrich meat and see how that goes.

                              has anyone ever eaten Nutria?

You'd have to have been to Louisiana or Mississippi to know what those are.

I have seen them, and almost ran them over, but have never eaten them.
