Well, the Democrats have rigged it ther way for an eon in the South. I would actually prefer a move away from gerrymandering and towards following county lines and such...

The Texan Dems haven't screwed over the Reps like this for a long time. The 2000 plan was immeasurably more fair than DeLay's.

Do you think they'll send the Texas Rangers (not the sports team) after them this time if they run again?

No doubt. The Reps have no regard for silly things like legal jurisdiction when it hinders their quest for a one party state.

Would you mind pointing out which aspects of the 2000 plan were so blatantly anti-democratic as the examples of DeLay's I just posted?

I guess for a young kid, 2000 is a long time ago.

Isn't fleeing the state to prevent a legal vote in the Legistlature a crime?

                      1. Since when?
                      2. Texas state police have no jurisdiction in OK.

The sad thing is that the Republicans don't realize that the **** they're pulling in Texas and Colorado could provoke serious responses in places like California and New York where the Dems control the legislature.

I don't know. I wouldn't have thought there would have been any talk about extradition the last time this happened if everything was on the up and up.

I bet there are very few representatives in the Texas House that are present for the entire time that it's in session. Just because enough people abstain from presence in the House to prevent a quorum, doesn't suddenly make their actions illegal.

Wich is why we should move to direct representation. Every 1% of the vote a party gets, they get one seat in the legislature.
