  • I'm an Idiot.

I recently got a job at a newly opened pub. A wonderful place, I really like being there, I like the owners and I like the place. There is only one thing with which I strongly disagree there. Never mind what it is... Anyway, I talked with the boss about it a few times and they seemed to half-ignore me. There were also a lot of people disagreeing with it on a related Internet forum (Irish music forum; it's an Irish pub, more or less the second in the country), so I responded there and voiced my disagreement. There were additional complications but it doesn't REALLY matter. Anyway, yesterday after the shift was over the owners called me and were very nice and all and told me how sad, dissappointad and personally insulted they were. Let's just say that they let me see the matter from a different angle. They didn't fire me or anything... I kinda wish they did. Now I feel like a total idiot and don't want to go to work. What should I do?

        Be a man and apologize.

Something was making you uncomfortable and you voiced your opinion. IMO, it was kind of rude of your boss' not to explain whatever it was to you sooner, instead waiting for you to voice your opinion about it several times.

Apologize, give it a week or two more, and if you still feel this way quit.

Don't tell me- on an Irish forum you expounded on your theory that the Pope needs to be publicly buggered?

I have apologized... You know what the really ****e thing is, until they saw the post they were actually considering to change their policy on said matters. Japher: This more or less is what I thought of doing, give it a week, after the official opening anyway...

Laz: No. It was a policy of the pub owners... You won't believe how stupid I was... My employment is in contradiction of the policy because the owners LIKED me so they let it rest. AAAH! I think that it's the stupidest thing I've done in my life more or less.

If the owners like you so much to over look it... feel good about yourself and hold your head up high.

Don't sweat it. We all make mistakes... the difference is what you learn from those mistakes.

I told you that on the first day you came to the OT. I'm never wrong.

Today was my last day at the Rock Island Arsenal (temporary job contract). RIA is where military weapons and equipment are produced, sold, and shipped. I usually question recent wars our government has been involved in, and look where I have been working!

Remember my thread in which I announced I was a hypocrite? So, do you really think I can contribute anything to help you?

Now I [...] don't want to go to work
                          Why?

Why feel so guilty about it? You made a mistake, now instead of just feeling bad about it, confess it, learn from it, and continue working.

                            Hypocrite.

Well at least you were helping the war effort.

Firelad, don't sweat it... just go back to the work and apologize. We all make mistakes. Me included. In fact I have made more than my fair share.
