Try living in a city that had people slam two jetliners into your tallest landmarks, killing thousands, and subsequently have the National Guard with M-16s everywhere, subway and landmark closings every few days on terrorist threats, and being a world-recognized target as an icon of American capitalism. Then you might be on edge when **** like this happens, too.

The gunman had been challenging him to the seat, but by all reports had given up on that.
Apparently, he walked in with the councilman, past the security checkpoint, but not through the metal detector, since government officials (and their guests?) don't have to go through.
