  • Aliens vs Predator and my video card

I saw Aliens vs Predator Gold in the used section of Electronic Boutique for 7.99 (if i remember right). looking at the requirements though the 4 mb video card was a bit steep as mine is only 2 mb... but then i was thinking... my copy of Madden and Delta Force 2 both claim to require a 4 mb video card but they work perfectly on this old card.

so what do yall think? should i go back and buy it? will it work?

If you can take the game back if it doesn't work, sure.
If you can't, but don't mind the risk of losing $8, sure.

    If not, no.

If you are going to play the game on a regular basis and not just buy/beat/bored, yes.

2MB?! Does such a card even exist?

I thought 8MB was the bare minimum these days....

I am still running a Voodoo3 2000 but can't remember how much memory it has. It's not a brilliant card but ran AvP gold easily. I would think you will be OK but might have to use a lower resolution and turn some of the graphic options off.

The game is worth $7.99, you will get enough out of it to justify that kind of money if you like running around and killing/blowing up things (strictly on your PC!).

Wow, I've never even HEARD of a 2MB card. Must have been a limited run, huh?

it's an S3 ViRGE/DX/GX PCI card with 2 mb memory on a computer from 1998. stop playing... you know all cards were in the 2 mb range back then. only been five years...

but alright. i'll go to the store and see if they still got it and buy it. that half price on used games **** better not have been a one time sale.

              thanks

but anyway what it comes down to is the minimum requirements on games are not always truly the minimum? though it claims to require a 4mb card, like DF2 and madden, there's a chance it will work on a 2 mb?

                  That Voodoo3 2000 (PCI?) should be 16mb.

I think a 2mb card may have trouble running...

i also found CTP II for 3.99 and got it... it said it required 4 mb video card but worked perfectly on the max resolution...

Last I saw Fry's Electronics was having a deal where you could get a BestData TNT2 card (32 mb) for $25 with a $25 mail in rebate. You may want to check that out.

What you need to do, Speer, is upgrade to the 4MB S3 ViRGE.

Herr Speer, maybe your gfx card has space on it for a couple of RAM chips...

They're not common, but some of them can be upgraded from 2Mb to 4Mb - and it should be real cheap.

Tricky part is finding a component supplier - but so long as you plug them in the right way round it's not that difficult.
