Templar, the UN almost always fails. It is a fact...

Quagmire? What? Are you high or something? You call this a quagmire?

I don't see any other elected official in the world lifting a finger to help at this stage.
    Bull.

I see the New Europe donating more troops, in fact Polish reinforcements arrived yesturday when I was watching the news.
For there is [another] kind of violence, slower but just as deadly, destructive as the shot or the bomb in the night. This is the violence of institutions -- indifference, inaction, and decay. This is the violence that afflicts the poor, that poisons relations between men because their skin has different colors. - Bobby Kennedy (Mindless Menance of Violence)

No, I mean there probably aren't that many Americans who know Iraq's history. I do . . . somewhat.

As much as I would love to see the Iraqi people get some much, much needed help, I don't really think any nation will really be too eager to intervene on the side of the US, and I can understand why they wouldn't.

New Europe? Where's that? Is that an island out in the Antarctic somewhere? Cuz Poland sure as hell ain't new.

Actually, I think the UN would face less resistence in Iraq than the Americans. Not militarily, since that seems to be directed by the Ba'athists, but they'd get more cooperation from the rest of Iraq.

I am just using Rumsfeld's little comment about old Europe and new Europe. It is the same continent, but some countries have smartened up and these are considered new Europe.

Seeing how the UN has done elsewhere (and how poorly as always) I don't think having them come in is an option.

yeah, new Europe should be looked upon as a pillar of Democracy, peace and freedom... and every few blocks, you can buy a child-sex slave from some Eastern European mob. oh but they support the war, they must be good people!

After all, its a hell of alot more seaworthy then our submarines.

I am talking about Britain (well on the other hand..), Spain and Italy. Not those Eastern European nations.. sure they contributed...

Sheesh.. just because they contribute you have to go condemn them. Go insult them for problems they have. Give them a break, a lot of those Eastern bloc nations have suffered economic chaos.

nah, I'm not condemning them because they've contributed... I'm condemning them because morons like Donald Rumsfeld put those Eastern European nations on pedestals when they are breeding grounds for criminal filth.

edit: and say what you will about France and Germany, but they are our allies... if the Russians invaded us, France and Germany would stick with us. They would support us until the end. But most Eastern European countries would betray us in a second. They'd turncoat for the power who they thought would win such a war. It happened during WW2.. the Bulgarians... part of the "coalition of the willing in Iraq" helped the Nazis... and then when the Soviets came... they turncoated again and helped those murdering Stalinist ****s. So don't give me that New Europe BS... they are just pandering to the superpower of the hour. If Saddam Hussein were the leader of a regional superpower, they'd be supporting him.

Perhaps you have a short memory... but I come prepared with facts, son.

                            from http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/2687403.stm
Mr Rumsfeld expanded on his remark about "old Europe" by pointing to the planned eastward expansion of Nato as far as the three Baltic republics.

If you knew what I felt like telling Mr Rumsfeld...

                            Roselyne Bachelot, French Environment Minister

"If you look at the entire Nato Europe today, the centre of gravity is shifting to the east," Mr Rumsfeld said.
So what's a lie? That Rumsfeld made those comments? Or that they are cesspools of corruption and organized crime?

Here's a lesson Fezzy, if you want to troll back and forth, that's fine... don't expect to run with the big dogs in a debate if your BAM's are going to be shot down by the likes of me. I'm an amateur, and on a Civ gaming site, and I just gave you the debate equivalent of an atomic wedgie!@
