SAMs are not designed for surface targets such as buildings. They are designed for air targets by definition, you.
Yes for Hind Helicopters. Idiot.
For there is [another] kind of violence, slower but just as deadly, destructive as the shot or the bomb in the night. This is the violence of institutions -- indifference, inaction, and decay. This is the violence that afflicts the poor, that poisons relations between men because their skin has different colors. - Bobby Kennedy (Mindless Menance of Violence)

It wasn't a short-sighted geo-political goal for Yanks. They tried to make Afghanistan the same trap for Soviets as Vietnam was for them and thus destroy the Soviets.
I love this. You know, I'm sure we intended it to become as big a pain in the ass as possible for the Soviets, but destroy them? Weaken, yes, embarrass, certainly, but to expect that the Soviets would be stupid enough to keep hanging on until there was nothing left? Anyone who suggested that would have been laughed right out of the think tanks.
Of course, you're doing the same thing again in Chechnya, and we're not even helping this time.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

I meant that this plan to weaken Soviets via Afghan war was a part of a your bigger plan to destroy the Soviets. And it wasn't in any case a short-sighted geo-political goal for USA. Try to prove me wrong.

You were helping for sure and perhaps still helping.

Actually that isn't correct. The Soviets wanted a fresh water port in Pakistan.
You are smoking a very cool sh!t, Fez.
They didn't give a **** about the Afghanis.
Yeah, and Yanks cared about Afghanis so much. An Afghanis were so gratefull to Yanks, so gratefull for what they done for people of Afghanistan... so they expressed their gratitude at Sept. 11.
All I'm saying is that you have to play the hand your'e dealt. You can't always say how things are going to look down the road, so you have to be prepared to alter your view.
