  • Blair made WMD mistake says Blix

BBC, News, BBC News, news online, world, uk, international, foreign, british, online, service

Hans Blix told the Independent on Sunday that the claim that Iraq could deploy weapons of mass destruction in 45 minutes seemed "pretty far off the mark" to him.

And he told the BBC that it was a "serious matter" when the basis of the case for war "sort of crumbles, or becomes shaky at least".

But Commons leader Peter Hain said all the intelligence he had seen proved "absolutely conclusively" that Saddam had weapons of mass destruction and was developing more.

well I guess it might be boring but what are the chances to see Blair go down on all those "misleading statements" and than sticking to them all the way - apart from admitting lately that "We will find WOMD programs" - not weapons anymore ... well still the guy stands strong, should a Prime Minister resign if he misleads the nation into war?

Sounds like ANY sort of (possibily) military related research is going to be fair game....

And for anyone interested this will be tonight on BBC Panorama at 10:15 pm

and by the way UK secret services have better sources than the CIA ...

The White House now says that was a mistake - the CIA had information that the Niger claim was based on fraudulent documents.

The head of the CIA, George Tenet, has taken the blame for its inclusion in the speech and Mr Bush has said he now considers the matter closed.

However, on Saturday the UK defended the Niger claim, saying it had intelligence from a separate source that the CIA did not know about.

heh... Blair is roasting a little, so "no mistakes are allowed" mentality kicks in ... at least the US had the guts to acknwledge that the information was not true.

Listening to Bushie, Rumsie and FAUX news I'm glad to see them all selling the Brits down the river.
One day Canada will rule the world, and then we'll all be sorry.

I wonder when Blair will crack.

"I'm sorry I abused the office and lied to the people. But Bushy made me do it!".
To us, it is the BEAST.

Yes, our wonderfully one way alliance is showing itself once again...

Still if it destroys Blair's credibility and removes him from office, I'll be more than happy...
Is it me, or is MOBIUS a horrible person?

              Get ready for Mr Smith

We will all be singing: Come back... Tony come back...

              It can always get worse

hey what's up with the British parliament? Why are they always yelling and talking over each other? I was watching the news clip the other day, and it was utter chaos. How can a goverment like that operate? Okay the U.S. congress isn't much better I suppose.

it's quite entertaining... I wish the liberals in America had the balls the British do. Not one Congressman in America is speaking out against Bush with such contempt. Blair is toast... and if Dem's in America had any balls, Dubya would be, too.

just heard Rummy on the news:

The British still believe this was true

                    relating to the intelligence report

                    that's good comedy...

Mentally, I've give Blair one year. If we don't find WMD in Iraq by then, I'm going to shoot him. Should have shot him before the war. 'Killing to save lives', as he said before.
