I have a sense of the priorities and they are what are--the US can't change Canada's priorities. But do you agree with those priorities?
Hardly. The government has let the Forces slide to a disgraceful extent. We now have 3 regiments of infantry and 3 of 'armour'. Only 2 of each are fit for deployment IIRC. That gives us 6 battalions of infantry, some of which are always at home. Between training, preparing for missions, and deployments to Bosnia and now Afghanistan (again) there is not much left.
The only good Canada can do militarily on the ground is to provide symbolic support from time to time, and to help local populations through peace keeping. Why some Canadians would like to withhold our help for the people of Iraq is somewhat puzzeling to me, assuming of course we had the troops to spare, which we don't.
