An early evening gunbattle in North Philadelphia has left a 3-year-old girl shot in the chest and two other children with minor injuries.

Little Nymyah Roach was rushed to Temple University Children's Medical Center, where she was in guarded condition last night, police said.

Her 5-year-old brother, Nysheem King, and another child who wasn't identified were also caught in the crossfire and suffered minor injuries.

and though it's not on philly.com yet, a west philly man was shot in the head, a frankford (my neighbourhood) woman and man were stabbed, the woman in the ass and the man in the head, and in south-west philly, verterbrae and other remains, presumeably from a human, was found in a plastic bag in an abandoned car in a parking lot.

Later in the evening, Mayor Street visited the scene. "Imagine if these Safe Streets officers weren't around," he said to news cameras. "It could have been much worse."

why is Street using a ****ed up incident like this for his political purposes? what is wrong with you democrats?

Maybe the same things that is wrong with the party that is trying to make sure the unvailing of the 9/11 memorial happens to occur during their convention in NYC being staged very close to the 3 year anniversary of that tragic event. Hint, it ain't the dems.

Kidicious: whatever you do, DON'T try to remove the graffiti. Living on the border is a dangerous place, because it's never going to be yours. It's the east side, or the west side, or it's the red or the blue, or the black or white or however it's delineated.

The apartment manager doesn that. There is a lot of the threatening type of graffiti too. It's been pretty quite after a Bulldog got shot right out side my front door. I think the Crips have won, so maybe it's over.

Well the Bulldogs used to have the run of Fresno, but now they have serious competition. I think the cops cracked down on them and that gave others a chance to come up.
