      Your price insensitive right?

What kinna pix you gonna be taking? Unless your gonna do large format stuff you can most likely get away with 3.2 Meg Pixel cameras. Slews of choices in that range. Low $300's at retail for the most part.

Look at optical zoom and forget digital zoom (you can do the same through photoshop).

Look at the type of memory media it takes. Stay away from Olympus since they are going with the new XD memory cards which are about twice the price of tried and true compact flash. Secure digital cards are about 10% higher than compact flash.

Youmay want to have a look at the new Sony Mavica that can burn your pix onto a CD. Seems I saw it on line at $540 ish.

Are there any good, relatively cheap digital cameras with a bayonet mount?
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

I will spend up to up to 25% above a "middle of the line" camera. But if it is no big deal, I don't mind spending less. Just tell me something that takes decent pics that won't give me buyer's regret.

i know someone who thinks a middle line camera is worth about 1500
