For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio

One can always say that by adding him to the team, you then have somoene with deep military experience in the cabinet that can advise the prez: you know, like Condi and Powell were to Bush (and somehting the Bush camapaign made clear)

I do agree that he would probably make for an excellent Sec. of Defense or Sec. of State in any Democratic administration.

Is it just me, or does anybody else think "lightweight" in presidential terms when they think of Clark? He's no war hero.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

I don't see why everyone likes to jump on the "retired general" bandwagon when they're untested in public life. I'm skeptical of Clark's ability to be more than a VP figurehead, much like I was skeptical when Powell's name was being bandied about for the Republican Presidential nod last time around. Being a general does not necessarily make you a good civilian leader.
If you look around and think everyone else is an *******, you're the *******.

He was a competent combat leader. He is sorta the "golden boy"type. The guy who would make sure and get to first of the class and get a Rhodes and such. I doubt that he was the gutsiest or the brightest guy in his class. But he was extremely squared away and relatively brioght and reasonably brave.

He is kind of a jerk in person. But he does get stuff done...

Yep. That's the way I look at him. Certainly not near the heft or inside-Washington political connections and brawling capability of somebody like Colin Powell.

I bet he is smarter and more of a tactical leader than Powell. But not as interesting a guy to hang out with. But Powell leaves me pretty cold as well...
