Would anyone be interested in doing a set of one-on-one type debates?

What I'm thinking is that we take a bunch of issues, and randomly pick people from either side of the debate to debate their side, just the two of them, then we move on to the next topic.

If we get several people, this could be kinda fun.

Problem is with the word "randomly." "Randomly" choose the wrong person, and you don't have a debate.

      Or, fine, don't choose randomly.

Didn't we try this already with yin26? It didn't go to well, IIRC.

Altough I often catch myself thinking that such debate for the sake of debate -threads, are shallow penis-waving competitions, I could see myself wasting my time to threads like this.

So, that probably means that you should count me in?

What you should do is take this idea, and flip it.

People will debate for the position opposite of which they sit. DinoDoc would argue in favor of communism, Che infavor of...um...anti-communism.

Yes, that's what I mean. I hate formal debate - too much bull****. I just mean two people discussing an issue, and let everyone else decide who wins, then moving on to the next topic.

Because I can't be arsed to do any more coding than I have to. Yes, I know about the tag-trick to defeat the autocensor, but typing in the lower-case "L" works just as well.

Typing that took longer than changing your sig. Therefore, 'can't be arsed' is a contradiction... unless you're trying to make a principle, hoping to avoid any further proposals to your future sigs?

I do work arrounds that take much longer than to do the job right becuase I can't be arsed

like I will put a lot of effort (an hour) into going out to eat rather than spend the 15 minutes needed to put the dishes in the dishwasher (I am out of dishes and ahve been for a day or 3)

Naw, the issue is that I really don't care. Anyway, my sig (in theory) changes every month to reflect the SF discussion group changes.
