      I've no idea, they didn't disclose anything useful. All of the information like RAM amounts and types had to be pried from the author via e-mail.

      As far as I'm concerned the benchmarks are irratic and useless, and specific to some obscure software using radically different types of computers...

        Sorry, was misreading you. If you're talking about the second benchmark, though, it's probably because they're on different workloads. From their chart, it looks like the faster one is the head and the others are the workers.

        And of course they're specific to some software (although mpC stuff isn't all that obscure). These guys wanted to see how it works with their specific application. Anyone considering an Opteron for HPC or scientific code is going to be doing just that.

                Why UR loves Opteron above Itanium is beyond me. After all, Opteron is supposd to be more backward compatible, more compatible to the very 32 bit version of Windows UR hates so much.
