Actually, I haven't chosen anything. All of America's contributions to new musical forms arose in the South but one, House music (which is from Chicago). That doesn't mean that Chicago blues or New York jazz isn't some of the finest music in the world. Even my favorite music, punk, arose simultaneously in NYC, LA, and Texas.

I mean, taking together the entire musical output of The South (defined as per the normal american definition which I can't specify exactly, though I suspect the confederacy might have something to do with it) since it was first colonised by humans several thousand years ago to today, is it better or worse than the output of the rest of the country? What you value in music varies from person to person, I'd vote The South even if I didn't care about the level of influence.Originally posted by GePap
