  • My Doctor's Visit KICKED BUTT!!!

    Everyone:

I'm so pleased right now. I've dropped 45 pounds since October and my blood pressure has dropped with those pounds as well. Also, my blood glucose numbers are doing awesome. The doctor went so far as to even say I was one of his model patients.

And you know what really makes me happy? *All* of this is due to a simple *lifestyle* change — IOW, eating a healthier diet and getting some sort of exercise (generally riding my stationary bike or walking two to four miles) every day. No damn drugs needed!

If I can do, so can you, my fellow 'Poly posters!

    Congrats !

I really should exercize more and eat better too, but my situation isn't bad enough for me to be motivated

      congrats!!

I am trying to lose weight and get fit again (I stopped for about 6 months)

when I am not trying to get fit or lose weght I eat decently and walk (or ride a bike) well over 2 miles a day (usually well over 4)

doing this I gained 20 pounds in 6 months

to lose pounds I have to lift weights and do fairly heavy exercise (As well as eat little)

      I don't like my body

My doctor visits usually culminate in him or her questioning my sexuality.

Jon, may I ask, what's your weight, and what's your height?

Gatekeeper, could you spare your time and tell the same info from your body, also?

When I tell them I am a virgin they say "what're you, some kind of füking fåggot???"... Is this normal?

                  hmm

I never tell my doctor that I am a virgin

and I would hope that it is not normal

Hmm ... let's just say I'm still larger than I should be, but I am 6'4" tall.

I'm taking the "lifestyle-change" approach to losing weight and increasing my longevity, rather than the crash or fad dieting that so many people seem to use. The doc says my approach is the best one, as it allows the body to gradually (and naturally) lose weight w/o the risk that comes with sudden weight loss (which often translates into the pounds coming right back when someone goes off such a diet).

my shape goes in cycles of awesome to decent shape depending on the seasons and my mood... I never have the will power to stay in awesome shape, but all i know is i never feel better or more confident than when I can run faster and longer than most anyone i see walking down the street... I just hope i dont fall into a slump and gain weight rampantly or get heart problems or high blood pressure or somethn

In four months I lost 8 kilos, just from quit working and start studying again... When I worked I tought I lived healthy, biking to work every day and eating regulary... Now, always eating burgers and pizzas and drinking alcohol 3 out of 5 nights (cause I had nothing better to do, and the food at the pub was great) wasn´t as healthy as I tought. As student I never got money to buy fast food, I gotta make my own food and seldom got time to go out partying - its sad, but that made me a more healthy person...

Bunnygrrl and I start working out again on Monday. I'm forcing her to come up with a nutrition and health plan for herself and I'm gonna make her stick to it. We were gonna start two weeks ago, but she got sick and has been sick. She's better now, but I want to let her recover fully.

Jon -- > 180 cm, 86 kg... sounds pretty healthy to me. Perhaps not 'in fit', but nothing to get stressed about. If I'd be you, I'd just continue the 5-mile walking / jogging, eat well, and not to worry until your weight passes 200 lbs.

Gatekeeper -- > Yeah, those methods are easy to agree with paper, but tend to get surprisingly hard when trying to fulfill in real life. Don't get depressed (or quit) if you'll temporary gain few pounds, the most important challenge to most seems to keep up with their excercises regularly, if they don't see the results immediately.
