    Oh Siro, did you try removing the cd drive completely from the windows hardware drivers list and then let windows install its own new drivers?
    I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).

      Not for Windows. In the DOS days, I never had any need to reinstall the OS (?). Even if I had such a need, I wouldn't need to wipe the system and start from scratch.

      So all the Windows machine I install will have Windows sitting in its own partition. So I can just format that drive if necessary. Now I realise that I still need to reinstall some other software, but not all.

      Of course, I'd use Ghost for companies.

        I fear that only the private toshiba drivers will be replaced, and not the windows files, which I suspect may be corrupted.

        The only way to make a bootable windows 2000 diskette, is to use a utility found on the CD


        I think it may very well be the case that the CD-ROM is gone. I'll get my dad to take it to work and see if it works there.

            Yep, I was talking DOS, you had the option to change the default directory, run the app, and it would promptly look for its files in the default
