The diplomat: Yes, at first Don Camillo doesn't want to baptize the child because Peppone wants to call him Lenin. Finally he agrees and when he asks Peppone again, which name the child should bear he says Camillo and then the priest says "In that case you can call him Camillo Lenin."
I love best, when the two together get the fascist into their hands whom they both know from their partisan time.
"The world is too small in Vorarlberg". Austrian ex-vice-chancellor Hubert Gorbach in a letter to Alistar [sic] Darling, looking for a job...
"Let me break this down for you, fresh from algebra II. A 95% chance to win 5 times means a (95*5) chance to win = 475% chance to win." Wiglaf, Court jester or hayseed, you judge.

Don't know about Asian, German or French but there are interesting non-English films nonetheless. I don't know if these are all available on DVD, but I'd definitely hope so:

"Karakter." Dutch from 1997. Perfectly executed, allegorical about a boy growing up with an absent father. Based on a book and has a very literary style to it - but in a good sense.

"Pusher." Violent, gritty 1996 film about love, money and drug dealing in Copenhagen. A sequel was made ("Bleeder").

"Prisoner of the Mountains." Russo-Kazakh film by Sergei Bodrov. A young Russian conscript is taken prisoner by Muslim fighters in the Caucasus. The director's son stars and died tragically a year ago when shooting another film also in the same area.

I'm trying to think of good new Swedish films, but I'm just out of sync with what they usually come out with. It's either misfiring comedy or (bad) emotionally draining drama, which I suppose is what realism amounts to in Sweden.

I was somewhat disappointed by Eight Women, I guess in part because I expected it to be better with such a stellar cast. The acting was still fine, but the idea didn't really excite me all that much, and I never really got involved with the characters to the extent necessary to suspend disbelief. On the whole though, I like a lot of French films. I'm looking forward to the WWI film.

In the U.S. Lola Rennt is called "Run Lola, Run". It's very good.

Winter War is a good movie with a good sense of humor. I quite enjoyed it.

                            Ooh, that one was great.

Also, I've recently seen a movie called Le Bossu. It was a nice movie http://www.allocine.fr/film/fichefil...film=8506.html. Yes, I'm too lazy to find an english version of the synopsis right now.

hey Sikander, check out some Truffaut! Check out Jules and Jim! If you want something lighter, Small Change is awesome too. The 400 Blows is excellent as well, although dark.
