  • Mp3 sharing progs etc.

i haven't had internet access on my computer for the best part of a year, and now that i do, there's a fair old wad of mp3s that i *need* to download. i've got winmx and soulseek, but winmx is crap for finding rare stuff and soulseek (which was never great for dance music anyway) seems to have gone crap for finding anything :/ (i have the latest versions of both programs)

so could people reconmend me some good alternative programs?

    thanks

Depends on what kind of dance music you're looking for. I downloaded nine Hed Kandi albums from Soulseek.

You can always try Kazaa Lite or Diet Kazaa...

      Kazaa Lite.
WinMX is only good to find top-20 stuff.

Kazaa Lite is what I use - no complaints with it at all. Works great.

Some people will tell you that eDonkey and/or eMule is better.

Google for any of these names to easily find the download sites.

yeah might give kazza a go.

i was mostly looking for trance, some of it pretty commercial as well, but couldn't find a thing on soulseek.

WinMX!! Dont let the network down!

By Kazaa you expose yourself a much greater risk of being billed. Not that it would happen. But it might just a little more

In my experience the ed2k-network is not very good for music. It's good for big files, although I prefer Bit Torrent.

yeah, but it's not that good when you can't find bugger all of what you're looking for

argh this is why i dislike winmx, i find a song i want to d/l, and the download is going to take a lifetime because half the free world has decided they want my 1300 mp3s!

"billed" like in "they make you pay for being a sucker and downloading instead of paying"

there is an upload rate limit in winmx btw
one that is not connected with your download rate btw
but of course we are all fair
                          btw

cockney, i blame your problem on the UK's archaic take on the internet.
