Yeah, come on! Be fair! There's only this one thread, and maybe one other, about the subject.

Oh, and I think Lynyrd Skynyrd rules too. So

It's not the type of music that bothers me (eg, I'm a big U2 as well), it is the volume that really, really gets to me.

Otoh, the Doors are the most overrated pretentious piece of shiite band in the history of Rock and Roll. So there!

You must be listening to the wrong singers. Have you ever heard Cecilia Bartoli do La Ceneratola? Or Tatyana Troyanos do Carmen? Or Renata Tebaldi do Madama Butterfly? Or Leontyne Price do Aida? Or Monserrat Caballe do, well, anything?

I assure you these women can sing quite, quite well.

How fitting they chose Verdi's il Trovatore to lampoon, since its plot is so atrociously ludicrous as to be easy prey for satire!

I saw an opera in the Caesaria amphitheatre. And damn me I forgot the name. I always forget the name. The one with the chinese name. That the apprentice ruined the ending cuz the author died. Puccini wasn't it? I can't remember...

I once left half-way through an opera. Never done that at a rock concert! Except at, like, festivals. But they don't count.

                                The Doors, bluegrass, zydeco

                                U2, Henrix, bagpipes, Lynyrd Skynyrd

I'm not sure what "ethnic" music is, but I'd tentantively thumbs up large part of the pop output of africa and india. Tanzanian Bongo Flava Hip-Hop, Bhangra, mmm.
